Q: What is something that you are grateful of in your life?
Today we are going to see about 2 disciples of Jesus who were not grateful to Jesus. For some reason.
Matthew 26:47-50
47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him."
49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
50 Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for." Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.
Just imagine this situation how it would have been?
Q: Before Judas came what was Jesus doing? (Speaking) about what?
A: He might be expressing his feelings / giving them plans / encourage them to be strong.
Q. What was Judas doing there in the crowd?
Q: What would you do, when someone comes to you with a sword / knife / chains at your doorstep? Never open the door / never come out for a week / defend / run away / fear of death.
Q: Why did people put others into problems? Jealousy / hatred / revenge
Q: Would you join a group going with sword / chain? (No) unless you are involved in it. Why? Fear of police / family / death.
Q: How did Judas, betray Jesus? (Rabbi & Kissed him)
Q: Why did he kiss Jesus / to betray
Q: Do you think Judas would have kissed Jesus before? (No)
Q: How would have Jesus felt? Hurt / Painful.
C: Lets see why Judas did this Matthew 27:3 Because of thirty silver coin.
Matthew 27:3
When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders.
Q: What kind of heart did Judas had? Greedy for money /selfishness / thought about future?
Q: How are people are today? Greedy for everything / sinful.
Q: How do people go about when they have money? (Drink / smoke / Gambling / prostitute / Bad movies etc.)
C: is that good life?
Q: What plans Judas would have had with that thirty silver coins?
Q: What happened to Judas later / He realised that he messed up.
Q: What was his decision? Hanged himself / was that a right decision? (No).
C: Today people make wrong decision in their life when they fail in exam / credit / boyfriend / girlfriend – kills themselves … Railway track, poison, burn themselves they don’t want to face life…. Why Judas decided like this?
Wrong decision leads you into trouble.
We saw about Judas / lets see about the other man. Mathew 26: 69-75
Q: How was Peter feeling in this passage? (Very afraid.)
C: When he had fear a girl asked if he was with Jesus, but Peter responsed by saying NO quickly. Near gate someone asked him again.
He said NO again and then everyone caught Peter.
Even Peter messed up – but he realised and changed.
Peter was afraid to tell people that he knew Jesus.
Q: Why don’t we talk about Jesus? Because of Fear…
Q: Whom are we afraid of? Family / Friend / Relatives / Boss.
Conclusion
Today we have seen about Judas and Peter.
Judas realised, but his decision was not right … he took a wrong decision that lead him into trouble.
But peter messed up and he repented.
Even in our life, we have not been grateful to God.
Even our life can change, if we make a right decision.
