a. James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
If we resist the devil, he will free from you. Submit yourelf to God first. If you are proud you are already caught.
b. 1 John 2:13
I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.
1 John 4:4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
We have overcome the Devil because Jesus is living in us.
c. Revelation 12:11
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb, i.e., at baptism.
d. Hebrews 2:14-15
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--
15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
Jesus overcame the devil by dying on the cross.
e. 2 Corinthians 2:11
in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
To fight the devil you got to be aware of his schemes. The devil knows your weaknesses more than yourself.
f. 2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
When we became disciles we were sincere and devoted but the devil deceives us. So we have to be aware of this.
g. Ephesians 4:25-27
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
26 "In your anger do not sin" : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
Don't give the devil a foothold in your life. Don't entertain sin, be radical. Be radical about bad attitudes, confess the same day.
h. Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Put on the full armor of God. Devil is always attacking. Truth, righteousness, readiness, faith, salvation, word of God, make suer you are prepared. Everyday is a battle. Prayer is a greatest key to fighting (v18).
i. 2 Timothy 2:24-26
24 And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
We know the truth and everything else but the people in the world don't know. So the way we put things across to people matters a lot. We need to be kind and not resentful. God can change the people. God grants repentance.
j. 1 Peter 5:9
Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
Standing firm in the faith is the way to fight the devil.
