Great things have never happened in the kingdom of God without great leadership, and great things cannot happen today without leadership. As the Church advances, there is need for more leaders. Leadership in the kingdom of God is certainly a humbling privilege, but it is also a tremendous challenge. We should be grateful that we are allowed to be used in such an important way and have humble hearts that are always ready to learn
more.
To be an effective leader in God’s Kingdom, we need to acquire certain qualities of Christ as a Leader.
1. Self motivated Spirituality.
i) Prayer
Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Bible says here that we should pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. At the same time we should be alert while praying. Never forget to pray for all the saints (Disciples). Jesus always relied on prayer. Jesus prayed on all occasions.
Q: How is your Prayer time?
Q: How much time do you spend with God everyday?
Q: Do you feel God’s presence when you pray or is it a routine prayer time everyday?
Q: Are you alert and focused in your Prayer or are you distracted?
Q: Do you pray on all occasions?
Q: Do you Pray for all the brothers and sisters in your family group daily?
As Leaders it is very important that we answer these questions confidently whenever it is asked.
ii) Bible Study
1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
As Leaders we should be ready with answers from the Bible for every question that is asked.
Not just the questions of outsiders, sometimes-even disciples have questions to ask us. We should answer all these questions.
When our Bible study is awesome, then we will be eager to answer and this will boost our confidence as Leaders.

Q: Do you read your Bible daily?
Q: How many Chapters do you read daily?
Q: Is your Bible Study legalistic or you enjoy your Bible Study?
Q: Do you get new insights in your Bible Study?
Q: Do you have a notebook to write down your insights?
It’s very important as leaders to be thoroughly equipped with the Word of God for every good work.
iii) Evangelism
1 Timothy 2:3-4
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
God wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. When we spread the truth (evangelize) God is pleased with us.
Q: How is your evangelism?
Q: How many people do you invite daily?
Q: Do you have lifestyle evangelism?
Q: Do you just hand out the invitation or do you invite them with all your heart with an attitude to save them from Hell?
Q: When was the last time you personally became fruitful?
Q: When was the last time you brought a friend to Church?
As leaders it is very important that we are evangelistic. Have lifestyle evangelism. Invite people wherever you go.
2. Heart of a Servant
Mark 10:43-45
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Whoever wants to become great among you must be a servant. We should be willing to become slaves for our disciples. This is what it means to be a servant in God’s Kingdom. Even Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve.
Q: How are you in serving? Are you known as a servant in your ministry?
Q: Do you initiate to serve the church? When you see the need in the Church, do you wait for someone to serve or you initiate and help?
Q: Do you serve at home? (Washing plates / sweep the room / cleaning the toilet)
Do you boss around with your family members?
Discipleship starts at home. We should be recognized as leaders who serve with smile.
3. Heart to work hard
Colossians 1:29
To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.
Colossians 2:1
I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.
Here we see Paul’s hard work (labour and struggles) for the disciples. He was willing to go through the suffering and pain for the disciples in Laodicea. Paul’s only intention was to keep the disciples spiritual. For that he was willing to go through anything.
Q: As leaders are we willing to face hardship for our disciples?
Q: Are you willing to go and meet the missing Christians’ late night or early morning?
Q: Are you willing to sacrifice your sleep to help your disciples?
Q: Do you have an attitude to deny yourself daily in order to help disciples to pray or read the Bible or to evangelize?
There is a high expectation in leaders when it comes to hardwork. We should be willing to work hard to advance God’s kingdom and to keep the disciples faithful.
Challenge
Have a desire to grow as a leader and serve God’s kingdom. To start with, do something special to the disciples in your personal family group.
