Have a songbook to teach new songs to your disciples.
Understand “Teach them to obey everything” includes your responsibility of teaching your disciples to worship God though singing.
Make them understand the biggest book in the Bible is a worship / song book! (The book of Psalms) Spend 15 minutes praying / singing.
1. Why should we sing?
Psalm 30:4
Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.
It is a command / It is to praise God.
Psalm 13:6
I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.
To thank Him for his goodness
Psalm 105:1
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
To make known to the world what He has done.
Psalm 5:11
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
To express happiness / joy
2. How to sing?
Psalm 33:1
Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Sing Joyfully. Are you singing Joyfully in the church / family group?
Ephesians 5:19
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
Sing with all your heart.
Mark 7:6
He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
They worshipped with their lips…. we don’t want to be like that.
1 Corinthians 14:15
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
Sing with your spirit and mind If you sing a song in another language, learn the meaning
Focus your mind / Don’t be distracted.
Sing in your quiet time.
Psalm 33:3
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
Sing new songs Be creative. Take a Psalm and try singing. You may feel awkward in the beginning but don’t give up.
Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
3. Types of singing
Singing is a way of communication, When you sing either you are singing to God, fellow believers or new comers!
Ephesians 5:19
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
Speak to one another through songs.
Examples - Don’t you want to go to that Land? – Singing to brothers / sisters
Teach them to understand to whom they are singing.
O, Lord prepare me — Singing to God.
Great men like Moses, David, and apostles sang!
Great women like Miriam, Hannah, Deborah, Mary, and Elizabeth Sang!
Above all our Lord Jesus himself sang songs
Matthew 26:30
When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
So let us glorify God with our singing.
