The role of the Mentors in our life can never be underestimated.

Some of you are in fear when you hear the word Discipling. You feel like running away.

Some of you don’t believe in discipling it all. You feel like it’s a man-made thing & You think “I don’t need discipling & I am just fine”

But it’s important for us to understand the biblical perspective about discipling.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The commission given to disciples by Jesus. The role of every disciple is not only to make disciples but also to continuously teach them to obey everything.

That’s what discipling is all about. Discipling someone is helping someone to obey everything that Jesus has commanded.

2 Timothy 2:2
And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

Here Paul tells timothy to appoint few faithful men who will be able to teach others.

Colossians 1:28
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

God calls for us to warn & teach everyone with all wisdom so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Mentors are overseers for your soul. The call for us is to be a source of Joy for them & not a source of burden

Ephesians 4:16
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

Mentors have the responsibility to speak the truth in love to us so that we can grow into the likeness of Christ. Even disciples also could speak the truth in love to their discplers & help them to be Christ like. It Works both way. But we can undermine the importance of discipling in our lives.
