Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly..

One of the things that the Jews were determined to follow was the law of Moses. They made sure they were faithful to the law. Joseph being faithful to the law finding grounds to make sure he abides by the law at the same time not exposing her to public disgrace.

Today we can see around with others and even in our personal lives, in a context of following the law, we are tempted in putting others to public disgrace. That gives a sense of satisfication when we lift us up and put others down.

Application

We have two greatest commandments. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. Love God and Love One Another. What we need to do more to be faithful to this two commandments.
