“These are the times
That try men’s souls”
Let God not Satan
Have the controls
So much to unpack
But let this be said
Division in the church
Needs to be dead
All baptized
After sins confessed
But issues of racism
Just weren’t addressed
Outside of the church
But inside too
If you were unaware
It didn’t affect you
That’s not your fault
You shouldn’t be blamed
And those who’ve repented
Should not be shamed
...Oblivious...
If you didn’t know
Take this opportunity
To learn and grow
Systemic Racism
It is real
Regardless
Of how that makes you feel
“Focus on God”
That’s what we’re doing
Despite the hate
The oppressors are spewing
Throughout the Bible
God helped the oppressed
If you do too
Won’t you be blessed
Black Lives Matter
Is offensive to some
If they’re not sure
Where you’re coming from
Their response
May offend you
If they don’t understand
It’s Black Lives Matter...too
The organization
May not be aligned
With Christian ideals
That the Bible defined
The phrase alone
Carries much weight
But it’s the organization
That’s up for debate
Black lives do matter
And yours does too
Jesus died
For me and you
