Divorce happens
We can all agree
It can be devastating
Spiritually
So many reasons
Can lead to that end
Certainly in the world
It’s a growing trend
But even in church
It happens here too
I went through it
To be open with you
If you’re a Disciple
And your spouse leaves
It’s not just you
The church also grieves
Special attention
Is given to you
In hopes you’re not
Going to leave too
I was fortunate
Friendships were tight
And I relied on God
On the darkest night
But where does one sit
In the congregation
When you’re going
Through your separation
Not yet Single
To the Marrieds you go
But feeling very much
Like you’re in limbo
A challenging time
Your faith gets tested
In God and your faith
Stay invested
For the unsupported
Who are left in a lurch
They leave in their heart
Before they leave the church
So if divorce
Is befalling you
Make a decision
To not divorce God too
